Chapel Arts Studios and Andover Museum are delighted to announce Junior OPEN OPEN, a brand new, dynamic exhibition opportunity for young artists in the Test Valley aged 5 - 17!
This exhibition will be a showcase of local talent by and for the young artists in the area. It will be a fantastic opportunity to show some of the artwork you have made, and to be involved in an artistic community exhibition with friends. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to enjoy and purchase original artworks by local artists and creatives just like you.
This year’s theme is Summer Memories. Your artwork could be inspired by your favourite memories of the summer or the things you are most looking forward to doing during this year on your summer holidays. It could be inspired by your favourite place or things to do in Andover when the sun is out - whatever you like! You can use any materials you like to create your artwork in 2D or 3D; for example, pencils, paints, clay, animation. All we ask is that your artworks must be A3 or smaller and ready to display.
Junior Open Open will be on display at Andover Museum and Museum of the Iron Age from Friday 2 May until Sunday 1 June 2025. The gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 4pm.
Submit your artwork for just £5 with an option to make an additional donation to help towards exhibition display costs. You can submit a maximum of 5 artworks, but please note that each submission will cost £5.
The deadline for applications is 4pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025.
Entrants will be notified if they have been successful by end of day Thursday 24 April 2025. Please keep in mind that if you have been successful, we will be asking that you deliver your artwork to Chapel Arts Studios on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th April between 11am - 4pm, ready to be installed in the exhibition the following week.
Selections will be made by a panel made up of the Andover Museum and Chapel Arts Studios Teams. We are looking for lots of creativity and different techniques, and a variety of media and styles will be considered for inclusion in the show.
There will be prizes awarded for Judges’ Favourite, with a prize of a £25 gift voucher for a local art shop or creative workshop of your choice, and a summer postcard design which will be on sale at both Andover Museum and Chapel Arts Studios to raise money for each charity to fund future community art opportunities.
In addition, for the duration of the exhibitions we will be asking visitors to the exhibition to cast their vote for their favourite artwork, both in person and on social media, to determine the winner of our Visitor's Favourite Award, who will also win a £25 gift voucher for local art shop or creative workshop of their choice!
Award winners will be announced at the end of the exhibition on Saturday 31 May.
Good luck and we cannot wait to see your artworks!
