It all started when I was at the Test Valley Arts Foundation, before Chapel Arts Studios was spun off as a separate organisation. And now the circle is completed as I become a trustee of CAS.
My background is in engineering where I worked on aircraft projects, television cameras, at the BBC and most recently on virtual reality television studios. The BBC is a great place to see how engineering meets with the creative industries to produce some top quality material.
I’ve worked around the world, including north and south America, Europe, the middle east and north Africa. In Jordan I worked in a TV studio helping keep the production systems working to ensure programmes could be made.
My vision is to support Chapel Arts to engage with the community, ensuring that an increasing number of local people can benefit from developing their creative output. In addition, bringing art and creativity to the fore supports the local council’s placemaking ambitions.
I am also a local councillor on Test Valley and Hampshire as well as having interests in the health services, where I’ve been a governor of the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust as well as the South Central Ambulance Service. I served as a trustee on the Hampshire and IoW Air Ambulance for 9 years, latterly as their Chairman.
