🗓️✨ Exhibition: THE FAIRY TALE OF EMOTIONS: Faye Theocharous
Chapel Arts Studios is delighted to be exhibiting artist @faye.theocharous at The Chapel Gallery in Andover until Saturday 19 April 2025.
Faye’s Surrealist style, bold use of colour, combination of charged subjects and relatable references simultaneously blend the dream and the nightmare. As well as exploring the feelings evoked by her own childhood with personal depictions of lived experiences and recollections, Faye touches on the heavier themes of corruption, politics and disasters which have taken place in recent memory in her native Greece.
Faye is a visual artist from Greece, currently based in London. She graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts, and primarily works with oil on canvas. Faye has exhibited her work in numerous galleries across Greece, as well as in several exhibitions in the UK. Additionally, she has collaborated on projects in Spain and Hungary, and this spring, she will participate in an exhibition in Tokyo.
"My painting belongs to the surrealist movement with elements of symbolism. I am influenced by various elements and objects, mainly from my childhood memories, which I connect to present situations or my current emotions. In some of my paintings, I have depicted certain events that happened in my country, Greece, which involve political corruption."
Faye won Chapel Arts Studios’ 2024 OPEN OPEN: Seeing Red Exhibition Competition with her paintings “Out of Shell” and “Dreams”, for which this Spring Solo Show acts as the prize.
Pop into The Chapel Gallery to enjoy Faye's paintings for yourself. Exhibition open until Saturday 19 April 2025, open every Thursday to Saturday from 11am - 4pm.

One week to go ✨ PERPETUAL BENDHU: An evolving exhibition by Susan Francis.
Chapel Arts Studios is delighted to announce PERPETUAL BENDHU, the latest art installation by multidisciplinary artist and curator, Susan Francis MRSS, which will run from Thursday 23 January until Saturday 15 February 2025 at The Chapel Gallery, Andover.
This brand new exhibition involves an installation of works, inspired by the imagined interior of the unique house of Bendhu, built by artist Newton Penprase on the cragged Northern Irish Antrim coastline.
Nicknamed ‘the Battleship’ by locals and started in 1936, the house had no architectural plan or overall design. Instead Penprase added to it as the mood took him, using his bucket of cement to create rooms and windows, platforms and vistas to the sea beyond. Every now and then Penprase would divert his attention from his building to create artworks and details around the site, all sharing a strange, sacred, and mythical theme.
Over the four weeks of the exhibition this sculptural installation will be reconfigured a number of times, in homage to Penprase and his lifetimes project, to his understanding that the process can be an end in itself, and to his example that to rush to completion is not always the creative way.
Susan Francis MRSS is a skilled multidisciplinary artist, curator and writer creating installations, films and drawings which explore our lived analogue and digital experiences.
You can discover more of Susan’s work at susanfrancis.com or by following her on Instagram @susanefrancis

Samantha Boot @threads_of_my_life will be taking up residence at King John’s House and Museum on Friday 20th December and Saturday 21st December 2025.

ASSOCIATE SPOTLIGHT: Simon Peter Green
‘I am a photographer passionate about social documentary, environmental portraiture, and visual sociology.
I try to place ethics at the core of my practice, often working in socially engaged ways and via partner negotiation and collaboration.
Previously I was a firefighter for 24 years, and then transitioned to event production, working globally with renowned clients like Duke Dumont, Wu-Tang Clan, Pusha T and many others.
After leaving the touring life, I earned a BA and MFA in photography (with distinction) at the University for the Creative Arts and now here I am doing what I love’

ASSOCIATE SPOTLIGHT: Liz Clifford
Liz Clifford is based in East Hampshire and uses daily rural walking as the starting point for her work across drawing and sculpture.
She aims for a sustainable practice through the use of salvaged materials, many of which are found littering the countryside - the detritus of agri-business, transport, recreation and family life. She responds to these materials by building assemblages, employing low-tech methods of construction such as knotting and binding, referencing the ‘making do’ solutions that evolve with circumstances and are associated with ‘fixing things’ in both domestic and agricultural contexts.
As well as addressing concerns around pollution, the works explore assemblage as a post-human hybrid concept. A coming together of objects with their own agency to create new beings, with the accidental playing a hugely important role. Time is also a key feature, from the duration of the repetitive walk to the slow gathering of materials and the incorporation of live flora in the work.
Liz is a member of The Royal Society of Sculptors, has an MA from UCA Farnham and has shown her work regularly since the 1980s.

Learn more about the exhibition by visiting chapelartsstudios.co.uk
Experience Susan’s own evolving vision of Bendhu House at the Chapel Gallery in the heart of Andover from 23 January – 15 February 2025, open every Thursday through to Saturday from 11am until 4pm. Free admission.

Last Saturday 23rd November our #NationalSaturdayClub #Andover went to visit artists studios at @projectworkshops in Quarley. We had the most brilliant day! On arrival they met Amy Goodman @amysculptor1 and her very lovely dog, who got lots of cuddles and attention! Currently, Amy is honoured to be sculpting Queen Elizabeth II at two stages of her life for both #Andover and #Romsey Towns. Commissioned by @testvalleyboroughcouncil - these projects involve extensive community engagement, providing inspiration for the pictorial stories that Amy will inscribe on both robes, capturing events from the Queen’s seventy-year reign. The first has just been unveiled in Andover! So go and see it!
Our club members also met artists working in stone, ceramics, printmaking, painting and mixed media textiles. It was an inspirational morning, artist @sallynewtonart demonstrated her oil painting techniques and shared her sketchbooks, @katyrundle demonstrated her approach to drawing on fabric using inktense pencils!
The group left with lots of ideas and were kindly gifted a small square canvas each to develop when back at Saturday Club in @andover_college this weekend…

We are all Stranger-Artists @rushbylaurence
“We are defined by our cultures, places, and by the experiences we encounter during our journey through life. Artists often navigate at the margins of the world and of their own communities, working with the strange and the unfamiliar, pushing the boundaries and thereby navigating fluid frontiers.”
Laurence’s intervention celebrates ‘the self-taught artist, the folk artist, the craft maker, and the artista popular’, an art of the people in which our stories intertwine to tame the strangeness in ourselves and weave a new, yet familiar, tale.
You’re invited to interact with a film projection created by Laurence during her British Council Research Fellowship @britishcouncil residency in Venice (2019), to encounter and inhabit the world presented through artists’ gazes, all connected through water, air, stones and earth.
@casartists would like to especially thank Test Valley Arts Foundation @testvalleyartsfoundation for funding the first of four artist residencies in Andover and Romsey Hampshire.

Discover artworks that explore the duality inherent in ‘belonging,’ highlighting the tension between the desire to connect and the fulfillment found in being part of something greater. 💥Introducing the wonderful Katt Grover @kattgrover
💥Katt is giving a talk on Sat 2nd March @unity_art_studios
Swipe for info.
Katt is a multimedia artist, illustrator, writer, designer and creative facilitator with extensive experience in learning and development. She is also a published poet with a special interest in interactive, narrative, and hybrid poetry.
Often strange, playful, and nostalgic, her work explores the relation between reality and fiction through self-reflection, memory and narrative. Found, stolen and fabricated artefacts and artifice act as catalysts and become characters. Working with hybrid forms and through multimedia collaborations, she experiments with digital media, collage, traditional print techniques, poetry and storytelling to provoke new conversations and evoke multiple senses.
Her recent projects have included augmented reality (AR), 2D animation, mobile app design, creative coding, interactive poetry, linoprint, and transmedia storytelling.
Katt has a BA (Hons) in Creative Writing and an MA in Digital Media Practice. She is based in Andover, Hampshire.

💥🎨Yesterday we had a brilliant first session at our CAS Kids After school Art Club. 🎨💥
The children had an introduction to abstract art by looking at the work of Georgia O'Keeffe. We responded to O'Keefe's abstract flower paintings, and the children created beautiful and dynamic works of art, full of energy and expression, using string and paint.
Keep up the good work kids!
