About the Artist

Faye Theocharous is a visual artist from Greece, currently based in London. She graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts and primarily works with oil on canvas. Faye has exhibited her work in numerous galleries across Greece, as well as in several exhibitions in the UK. Additionally, she has collaborated on projects in Spain and Hungary, and this spring, she will participate in an exhibition in Tokyo.

"My painting belongs to the surrealist movement with elements of symbolism. I am influenced by various elements and objects, mainly from my childhood memories, which I connect to present situations or my current emotions. In some of my paintings, I have depicted certain events that happened in my country, Greece, which involve political corruption."

Faye won Chapel Arts Studios’ 2024 OPEN OPEN Exhibition “Seeing Red” Competition, for which this Solo Show acts as the prize.

Mary Alice Beal, Exhibitions + Events Lead: “Chapel Arts Studios are delighted to be exhibiting Faye’s extraordinary work this Spring. Her strong surreal style adds both a dream-like and nightmarish quality to her personal depictions of her lived experiences and recollections. As well as exploring the feelings evoked by her own childhood, Faye touches on the heavier subjects of corruption, politics and disaster which have taken place in recent memory in her native, Greece”.

Exhibition runs Thursday 20 March until Saturday 19 April 2025, with the Chapel gallery open everything Thursday through to Saturday from 11am until 4pm. We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery.
